Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Inner Healing and Deliverance?
To explain it simply, inner healing means healing of your soul (mind and heart). I think of myself like a physiotherapist helping heal someone's knee so they can walk properly! I want to help you heal up so you can live out your identity and callings more fully. We've all heard the saying, "hurt people hurt people," so let's be healthy, whole individuals who can bless others instead of hurting others.
There are over 100 verses in the Bible that reminds us that God's in the business of healing broken hearts. One of my favourites is "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Psalms 147:3 (NIV)
Deliverance, on the other hand, deals with the demonic spirits we've allowed in our lives. No that doesn't mean we're demon possessed! I'm gonna simplify this deep topic. Satan's job is to steal, kill and destroy our lives (identity, destiny, purpose, health, etc.) and he does this through negative situations in our lives or tempting us to do wrong. There's nothing wrong with negative emotions like anger or sadness, they alert us that something is wrong! But it's when lies creep into our hearts that empower those negative emotions to linger.
It's at that point that they're not just negative emotions anymore, we've given into their voices (lies) and we've given authority for those demonic spirits to influence our thoughts and actions (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). This is what Ephesians 4:27 talks about when it says, "don't give the enemy a foothold." It ends up causing suffering in little or big ways. Here is a blog where I give an example of how I received inner healing and deliverance for anger and rage.
What's the Difference Between Inner Healing&Deliverance vs. Counselling?
Counselling/therapy helps us understand why we are struggling in certain areas and uses various therapeutic techniques to address these areas of concern. They provide tools for coping, emotional healing and personal growth.
Inner healing and deliverance takes a Christ-centred, spirit-led approach that helps a person get to the roots of what is causing the areas of concern. Through biblically-based prayer, the leading and power of the Holy Spirit and teaching, people receive healing for their wounds of their souls and get the tools needed to restore their minds and hearts. People are healed from the inside out, even physical ailments are often healed because issues of the soul are healed.
For many people I've helped, they've noticed this difference: counselling helped them figure out why they were struggling, but wasn't able to help them get fully healed. Or they were misdiagnosed and thus didn't get the right treatment. So they sought out prayer ministry (inner healing) where they not only got healing and freedom but got the tools needed to stay free.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
The amount of sessions needed will be dependent on the depth of healing needed, your schedule availability and your emotional capacity. Some have just needed one three-hour session, others have needed a couple two hour sessions, it really varies upon the above factors. After our initial session, I'll be able to gauge how many sessions you'll need.
How Much Does This Cost?
I offer a sliding scale fee depending on your income:
Employed: $45/hr
Unemployed/Student: donation based
I am passionate about helping leaders in ministry walk in wholeness, so if you meet this criteria, I am offering you a 20% discount of $36/hr.
Do I Need to be a Christian?
It's only through Jesus Christ that we are fully healed and set free, Acts 4:12 says, "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Worldly solutions can only help so far. God heals and transforms on a cellular level, as 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NCV) promises us, "Now may God himself, the God of peace, make you pure, belonging only to him. May your whole self—spirit, soul, and body—be kept safe and without fault when our Lord Jesus Christ comes."
I have watched the power of the Holy Spirit heal the trauma and pain imprinted on people's souls, commanded the demons that were tormenting and causing affliction to leave. Then I've watched as God fills them with the gift of freedom, joy and peace...no medication did that, no ancient Eastern healing techniques did that...it was purely the blood of Jesus applied. It would be a grave error on my part if I ministered to someone who wasn't willing to partner with Jesus for their healing and continued freedom - Matthew 12:43-45 warns us of this:
43 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”
Do You Minister to Men?
I minister to men if they are under the age of 30. If they are older, I would have to see if my husband has availability to join the session.
How Can I Prepare for My Session?
Lemme be real here. In my experience, the biggest hindrances to someone's healing is their lack of willpower and/or pride/arrogance. Your willpower means there is a willing "yes" in your heart for God to heal as He needs to. Many will say yes with their mouths but their actions say differently, their hearts aren't truly willing. This is why Jesus asked the lame man by the Pool of Bethesda, "do you want to be made well?"
If you feel like there's some hesitancy to ministry, take time to ask the Lord where that's coming from, is it mistrust towards Him? Is it disappointment from previous things that you tried and didn't work? Is it hard to surrender something you've been accustomed to for so long? God is faithful to reveal what's going on in your heart and if your willing, He'll help you have the willpower to believe. Shoot me a message if you want help with this, totally willing to help!
Pride/Arrogance is sometimes hard to see in life, but if you could see it in the spirit, pride is like blinders on our eyes. It can be a major hindrance to God moving, it was the root of the downfall of man with Adam and Eve! So I've gotten into a practice of repenting for pride often and asking God to reveal where it's active in my life. In addition to that, I ask God to fill me with humility, and a broken and contrite heart (Psalms 51:17), so that's an idea of how you can pray into pride.
If you have a session booked, the best thing you can do to prepare for ministry is prepare your heart by spend time in God's presence and reminding yourself of who He is (Psalms is a great book of the Bible for this). Ask a family member and/or trusted friend to be praying for your session, that you are well covered as you receive ministry.
Why Does God Care About Us Getting Healed?
That we could have abundant life in Him (John 10:10), which according to their root meaning, means superior quality of life!
Because He loves us and doesn't want us living in suffering (Isaiah 53:4-6)
To be more like Jesus (2 Cor. 3:18, 2 Cor. 4:11, 1 John 3:10) brokenness and sin hinders the life of Christ from being manifested in our lives.
